- Spicy Beef Ramen

I ate here for a quick lunch with my father.  Since I've been working downtown, I've had the chance to try a fair few places for lunch, but all very quickly!  I find it quite difficult to eat in a restaurant within the hour.  This restaurant has been a downtown lunch-spot for decades-- quite literally!  My father's been coming here for lunch since he started working downtown thirty-something years ago.

There's little to say about the decor.  I didn't notice much since we were in and out of the restaurant so quickly but there were a few vaguely Japanese wall hangings and signage decorating the walls.  You can tell that the restaurant has been there for some time as there's noticeable wear and tear to the furnishings but the tables are (mostly) clean.  The service was warm but brisk.  We were seated, our food and drink orders were taken, and the food brought out in probably fifteen minutes flat.

The ramen was decently good but not great.  They definitely serve large portions and there was no chance I was going to finish mine.  The noodles were of a good texture, soft but still slightly chewy.  The meat was flavourful and not too scant.  The biggest complaint I'd make is about the broth, arguably (and definitely to me) the most important component to ramen.  It was overly salty and didn't have much other distinctive taste.  That, I feel, is one of the worse things you could say about ramen.  Overall, it was a good place for a quick lunch but if I wasn't pressed for time, I doubt I'd come again.
