Restaurant Review: Cheesecake Etc.

Cheesecake Etc. (2141 Granville Street, Vancouver BC V6H 3E9)
Cuisine: Dessert

Food ordered [07/06/12]:
- Cheesecake with strawberries $5.50

This was the first time in several years I've been to Cheesecake Etc. and I had (very) late night dessert with a friend this time.  They remain open until definitely past midnight as I was there around 11pm and business showed no signs of slowing down.

The restaurant is deceptively large but comprises three separate rooms so there is still a certain intimacy to your surroundings.  The lighting is very dim, the kind of dim which makes your menu almost unreadable.  Thankfully for that frontier, the menu really only has one item: cheesecake.  There is a choice between regular and chocolate cheesecake, with further add-ons of strawberries, blueberries, or ice cream.  The service was prompt but not very attentive.

I enjoyed the cheesecake itself.  No photos due to a rather ugly slice of cheesecake in a pool of strawberry sauce and the aforementioned dim lighting.  I have to say it was still good.  It was very light and had a lovely creamy texture that still had substance.  It was not a New York-style cheesecake by any means.  (I am still searching for the perfect New York cheesecake to replace the one the Cactus Club used to serve.  Suggestions?)  But overall, I liked it.  I would definitely come again should I crave cheesecake in the wee hours of the night.
